When Injecting Worms, I get air bubbles and collapsing

I bought some of Janns Netcraft injectors and molds and starting making some baits. So far ir has been very interesting and I am about to make the move to Bear Baits and injectors as I wanted to see if the cheap Janns stuff could get me going. Problem is I am getting spots in the baits that shrink and I am getting spots that make the baits hollow. Not sure how I am doing this but it is starting to get frustrating. How do you keep the baits from shrinking just in small areas? Plus how do you keep from getting hollow baits. Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you still having problems once your molds heat up a bit? Make sure your injector isnt sucking air as you draw in the hot platic. If you have the tip submerged a good way into the the plastic as you draw, then your ok there. Check to see if the injector isnt pulling air in from somewhere eles besides the nozzle orfice (like if the nozzle isnt sealing to the body of the injector, like a bad o-ring). Is it worse w/ one type of mold over another? Maybe your not venting good for a specific mold. You can fix that w/ a small set of files and an India stone.

    Keep at it!
    Hope this helps............

I haven't heard anything good about the Netcraft plastic injection system...when you make the jump to aluminum injectors and molds you'll have much better equipment.

The wife and I have decided to start making our own. I am going to make my own injection machine and buy some molds from Bears and others. I have a buddy with a machine shop and I am a 3D CAD junkie so I will be modeling up some new plastic baits. Thanks for the advice.

Well, if you get some made and need a tester, I'll have my hand raised

Throw that stuff away. It's an accident waiting to happen. Plastisol at 325+ degrees needs allot of respect. It would be worth the wait till you good the good stuff.
