you can use Krylon spray paint for plastics..it will adhere very nicely. i think Mudhole sells some blank paint also

you're going to eventually have cracking, peeling, etc using that paint on a rod without a top coat.

You're also killing performance by adding a lot of weight.

If you know someone who sprays auto paint, that will give you the best results.

I use auto body type paint and clear on lures. I don't think the paint or clear would be flexable enough to hold up to a bent rod. But I could be wrong

Re: Can you paint rods? (yellow gambler)

well I used a combination of HOK Black , Blue and Parma Faschange Blue to color a CB rod, and cleared it with a 2 part Dupont. I have had it out and usinging it twice and so far so good.

It was a rebuild so I really don't care if it holds up but I hope it will. I did not use any additive like you might on a bumper. I will for sure let folks know after a summers worth of use how it holds up.

I've use Duplicolor rattle can paint on one but wasn't happy with it. I was just experimenting a little. I agree with Alex, it will eventually chip. I like mine "naked", then there is nothing to blemish.

agree with above, i can't justify the cost and additional weight to a rod. I like looking at bling, but will err to the side of performance any day.

if you do paint it - automotive bumper paint is the way to go.

Deffinetly have to use automotive paint with a flex agent in it. A lot of stress is put on the rod. Don' know about painting a rod though, will deffinetly add weight and probably loose sensitivity.
