I have 3 rods that I like that are no longer usable. All 3 have broken reel seats, how much would it cost to have a new handle-reel seat put on them? They are 6'6 rods? Thanks

well to do it right you really need to strip all the guides off and install from the tip. That can get fairly costly pretty quick.
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
what is broken about the reel seats?
The bottom half of the seat on one and the top on the other 2!
ahhh... in that case, i would buy one of the handle kits from mud hole:

i have not used one of these before, but it is my understanding they mount onto a graphite tube (included) that slides over the blank from the butt. This should let you install it without removing any guides. All you should need is some decent epoxy.
The other option would be to buy a pre-fab cork grip and new reel seat and arbor to fit. As long as the reel seat is not a blank-exposed design, you should be able to get it with a 16 or 17 mm ID and use drywall fiberglass tape to create arbors around the blank for a snug fit. The pre-fab cork will be a similar ID and should already be fitted to mate up with the back of the new reel seat.
If you have cork ahead of the grip and want to keep it - don't remove that from the blank. You will probably need a dremel and some cut-off wheels to get the old reel seat off. Always be very careful to not cut into the blank. easiest way to get the cork off is to slice it with a razor or utility knife on 2 sides and then chew it off with some pliers.
These are the reel seats that screw down on the top of the reel. I will try to post some pics here shortly!
Here is a pic to show you kinda what I mean!

yeah - the one is a BPS reel seat and not sure on the other 3 but, at least to my knowledge, you can't get those anywhere. you could get new down-locking fore grips assuming the threads on those seats are standard size. That would mean at a minimum removing a few guides if not all of them.
down and dirty of it is - the labor to redo the guides and the grips is pretty much the same as the labor to just build a new rod - so if you have someone do it for you, its not gonna be cheap unless you do it yourself or someone owes you a favor. You could probably buy new rods and be money ahead.
best bet is probably the mudhole kit for 35$. Cheapest bet is to buy a Fuji TCSM (or similar) reel seat, a straight cork grip and butt cap for about 20$.
also - if you have to ship them to someone for work, expect to pay 20$ in shipping one way.
I would either buy new rods or go the handle kit route.
At certain points, repair just isn't worth the $ involved. But only you can determine that point.
Ok thanks, those were the answers I was looking for, its just sad because they have been such great rods and they dont make those quantums anymore!!!But thanks for the help!
