    clear coating old balsa baits

I have several old balsa baits with the wood exposed. Some bagleys and some tn killers. Some have just teeth/hook marks, some have chips off them. I know not to get these wet with the wood exposed. If I coat these in Etex, will there be any negative effects or would they be about as good as new?

A thin, even coat, and they should be fine. However, I would recomend that you test one of each brand or style before re-coating them all. Balsa baits are very sensitive to weight, and when you put on a new top coat it will add a slight amount. This can have an adverse effect on the baits action, especially if the top coat is not applied evenly. But in most cases, a thin, even coat will not hinder the bait in any way.

sounds good, I guess a topcoating versus never being able to fish those baits again is really a no-brainer anyway.
    thanks
