best way to clean the eyes out of jigs that you pour?

What do you guys think the best way to get the eyes cleaned out is? I just bought a shakey head mold and it takes longer to clean the eyes than it does to pour the jigs.

If it's the Powder paint you're having problems with, clean the eyes before you cure the paint, it's a lot easier and faster.

I cleaned them before it cured but it was still hard as a rock. Does that mean I got the lead too hot before dipping them?

sounds like you are dipping them in the jar and not using a fluid bed. If jar dipping the only thing you can do is clean before you bake. Using a fluid bed the hole will stay open.

When you pull them out of the oven, do it one at a time.
Take a old hook, and put it in the hook eye, that will push the warm paint through the eye and you can grab it will a pair of needle nose pliers.
Its easier and quicker to do then to type it.

heat the side without the hook eye only when preheating lead before powderpainting.

This takes a little while but its worth the effort. Before you apply powder paint tape the eye with aluminum duct tape. Heat the jig, dip it in the powder, remove the tape, the in the oven to cure.

You can get aluminum duct tape at Home Depot or Lowes, cut it into 1/4 by 3/8 inch sections before you're ready to cure. Like I said its kinda time consuming, but not as much as cleaning the eye.
