Well I built a rod wrapper a few extra stands for drying and wrapping first, then moved on and built my first rod which happens to be a crank bait rod . I am pretty happy with how it came out. And when I get the $$ I will build my first spinning reel for Senko fishing.
I built the loose stands from some old mahogany, then the wrapper is aspen, thread arm is rock maple and mahogany. The aspen is a couple of new 1x2x6' and 1x3x6', while the mahogany and maple are pretty old scraps. I just took ideas from others photos and did a couple of twists on securing the thread and stands. The stands on the wrapper and the thread holder are secured in place with old drawer pulls, nice and smooth no rough edges. The screws running up through the bottom have plastic sleeves over the screw to help stability and not tearing up the wood. The stands also have dowels out the bottom to keep them in the track. I had all the screws washers etc. except the long screw that holds the thread which I ran through some recessed screw holders. Since I am a bit of a pack rat I had one spring from who knows where, and the other I made by spinning stainless steel leader wire around a piece of tubing.
The rod; 8' Rainshadow CB80MH, split grip, Minima seat, FORECAST BLACK/TIBLU CASTING GUIDE #8, FORECAST BLUE RING FLY 2 #2, 7 #6 done in a spiral wrap. (I originally spaced it out and layed it out for top mount only but I was convinced into doing a spiral instead.)
Hope you like the rod and wrapper/stands.
