    Weedguards?

Is it easiest to mold them into the jig head before painting or epoxy them in after? If you epoxy them in what epoxy is best to use? and for the FG30 weedguards do you prefer the .018,.021,or .024? I am still new to making Jigs.

When I first started pouring jigs I poured them with the weed guard . Now I pour without the weed guard. I found you get better paint if you are powder painting the jigs ,you can use higher heat to cure the paint. I use the rv silicone for my jigs . Some people use devcon epoxy or gorilla glue . There are many different glues and epoxies that will work , just make sure it is water proof.

I also put mine in after powder painting. I prefer the .21 put use heaver in some situations. After curing powder i drill out the hole and install the weedguard using devcon 2t epoxy. Hope this helps.

i also glue the weegards in after painting. we use mercury adhesive in the thick viscosity. you can find it at most hobby shops. we have never had any problems with the weedgards coming out. i also drill out the holes after painting. tried the silicone stick thing but found it faster to just drill them out later. besides making it easier to powder paint, it is also easier to tie without the weedgard in your way if you hand tie your jigs.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will give it a shot without the weedguards till after I paint.

Do you use anything in place on the weedguard mold so you can still have a hole

The do-it molds have a base hole pin that can be used to form the hole for the weedguard that is easily removed after pouring the jigs.

What kind of paint our you using on your jig heads?
I like the .018 weedguards myself, dont get in the way when setting te hook. You will lose more in super heavt cover but its well worth it.
