suggestions to solve an airbrush problem

Hey guys, I'm having an issue with my gun, I can't seem to get a steady spray while using createx "pearlized" paints. I'm running a .2mm setup and feel like I should increase the size some, what do you think .3mm or .5mm?

don't have any issues with anything else, maybe the pearl is too big for the small nozzle ???

thanks Shaggy, I've been everywhere from 20 psi up to 60 psi (for a short time) and it didn't help any, I can get it to spray if I open up the paint flow adjustment to MAX but then don't get the control I want.

A .03 tip, with some paints, will work but the .05 works best for pearls and mettalics.

I use a .2 tip also. Sometime's you can back the needle out 'just a hair' and lock it down and it helps..

Thin the paint more. I use a 2 with no problem.

I have one of those brushes as well, and pretty much do not use it for pearls/metalics, and if it is your only air brush you would be better off to change to a .03 tip.

If you are not real meticulous about cleaning your brush you can also slowly build up residue in the tip that will prevent the paint from flowing well. So buy some Airbrush Restorer soak the tip over night and make sure you get it good and clean. Thinning the paint will help some but will mean you need to be careful not to spray to heavy.

Best bet is to increase your tip size.

thanks guys, I ordered the .3 setup for my gun last night. kind of thought that was the way to go but wanted to get your thoughts first.

Good deal, you'll have better results with the .03. I use a .05 for almost everything except fine detail, but I also keep my paints a little thicker so I can use them in automotive gravity guns as well. That's a great suggestion with backing the needle out just a bit. I do this routinely when I shoot glitter. And as always, cleanliness is critical to great paint jobs!
