'06 225 E-Tec cutting out @ top rpm

I have been having issue with cutting out of my 06 225 e-tec at top end. I have good hole shot, nice and steady @ 500-4500 rpm's but when i put my foot in her, she will cut out. Only had one engine alarm when I kept my foot in her for a bit. If I back off right away, no alarms. Changed out plugs, filters, etc...same issue. I am thinking fuel injector or high lift pump. Any thoughts?

Hey Junky I've got an 05 and had the same problem this weekend. I never kept my foot down when it started stuttering so I didn' get any warning lights. I was going to try changing the plugs but it sounds like that may not be it. If you get any answers please holler.

What info would help troubleshoot this issue? '06 Etec 225 HO (E225DHLSDF)Raker II 26p- balanced, polished and reduced cup. Good hole shot, smooth @ 4,000-4,300rpm (45-50mph)- cuts out when over 4,5000 rpm's. If i reduce rpm's when it cuts out, no alarm, if I put my foot in her, engine alarm will sound. I have changed out all new plugs (and indexed) and filters, boat of course will always run better with new plugs but still have same issue.

He wants to know Check engine light, Low oil light, no oil light overtemp light? These are all indicators on they system check gauge not just the horn?

Thanks, guess I'll clarify "engine light" as check engine light, my apologies.

Took mine out saturday and no misses. Took it out sunday and as soon as I would get over 4200 rpm's it would sporatically start to cutout/miss/stutter almost as if it were electrical or not getting right fuel mixture. I would let off a little each time, ain't got the money to blow it up.

The CHECK ENGINE light can mean a lot of things from minor to serious. Most common are water in fuel filter or throttle position sensor out of adjustment, especiall if you have a hotfoot. Over or under voltage, both charging or system, can do the same.

Since you have an 06, see your dealer. Some early models had software updates, deflector pins, spark plug changes, etc.

My 2000 175 did the same thing. It was the throttle position sensor.
