I usually use Rod Bond to glue cork. Works great. Tonight I did a little project (not a rod) and used Elmer's exterior wood glue to glue some rings together. Just a thin coat on each face, clamped for only 30 minures and lathed to size. I was very pleased with the lack of glue lines and the speed of setting.

I'm wondering if this would work though in a rod application? Durability, strength of bond and waterproof? Anyone use wood glue?
