they are typically 4mm diameter rings or smaller. They look like typical single foot fly guides, just a lot smaller. Fuji and Batson make some of the more popular styles.

Micro guides are exactly the same in appearance as the normal single foot fly guides that would be found toward the tip of most b/c rods only much smaller. #6 is the smallest found on factory built rods at the moment are considered to be #5's or smaller. They are an oustanding tool for custom builders. Here is a pic of a 6 alconite next to a 4 with a penny for reference.

Micro guides are very small single foot guides that have a ring size from 2.0 to about 4.0. The smallest "off the rack" guide that you see is a 6.0 and most are 8.0 plus. They make a rod that is lighter, more responsive thus more sensitive. And they cast extremely well with any size line.
