    Bad Epoxy Finish???

Today I put 30 min. epoxy on baits painted with Createx---they look awfull. The epoxy puddled up into thick and thin places --no bubbles. the epoxy acted like water on a newly waxed car--puddled up. I repeadly rebrushed it --trying to get it to lay down but no luck. Thinned it with acetone. Could post a picture but am too ashamed!!!

sounds like to me you didn't mix it enuff. sometimes you can use a light buld and heat it up some.

I made extra sure to mix it well and heatd it with a hair dryer before brushing it on.
I also used 5 minute epoxy on 1 bait with no thinner and it did the same thing!!

Could be you've touched the bait alot....oil from your fingers will repel the epoxy so try not to touch it after you've started painting

The goes on fine-- no lumps or etc. ---but after 1-2 min. you notice it begins to "bead-up". I would try to recoat them but I'm fairly sure they will sink form the added weight. I carefully weighted them before the epoxy went on. They will just barly float now --READY TO FISH--GOOD-- but I can hang 1 small split ring on a hook---for testing-- and it will sink the baits.

I can use them --as is and they'll work fine but the clear is very uneven.

I had this kind of happen to me the other day I think the epoxy was too old, or it was too cold.
Make sure when you buy it that the stuff is not yellow, buy the clearest one you see.
