My nephews small bluegill rod somehow managed to get its self broken. Its a 2 piece light action 5'6” im6 graphite GS series spinning rod from BPS so its not a super expensive rod but I would still rather fix it than toss it because its only a year or so old and has not yet been heavily used.

The tip of the base is where it broke right where the two pieces connect. In this case the base is the smaller piece that fits inside the upper section. It broke right where the top piece comes down to on the bottom piece. If you try you can still push the base in about a 1/16”.

It was unfortunately a pretty clean break too, not completely clean but close. I don't have any pieces of rod tip or anything hanging around that I could insert in it as a new core to help hold it so, unless someone here has some other idea, the options I see are to try to glue it back with a thin slow set epoxy even though its a clean break and hope the glue penetrates enough to hold, or cut the part where it broke even to try to prevent any cracks from forming, then sand the outside of that down till the top piece can slip over it, then glue some sort of cap on it to try to keep moisture and dust and dirt out of it.

My questions are, does anyone think that glue would hold without putting something in as a new core? Would just glue have any chance at all of holding, and how am I going to do more damage to the rod if I start sanding it down to fit?
