    proper guide spacing on a 3 piece 9ft fly rod

    anyone have any ideas on this one? i have a customer that is wanting two fly rods done and this is something new to me...

    Tyson, just place the guides similar to a spinning rod and do a static test to space them out. Make sure there are no flat spots and a nice smooth curve in the rod when loaded. You'll probably need 8 or 9 guides. What blank are you building on?

    Can't go wrong with a rainshadow. If they are interested in a 4 piece the RX8+ is probably one of the best fly blanks made.
