ever done something dumb?

man.. i felt like a real chump last night.

was mixing up a batch of flex-coat lite last night to put the 1st coat on the decal section of a crankbait rod that i had previously marbled, added decals and then trim wrapped. So i load up a syringe with 1ml of hardener, and another w/ 1ml of resin and put the hardener in my mixing cup... then i go to put my resin in.. and i remember looking up because my wife was hollering at me from upstairs while i was depressing the syringe.

look at my cup and remember thinking... man... sure doesn't look like 2ml... mix it up and think.. man... sure aren't very many bubbles... apply to rod and admire how nice and flat it lays out - at which point i knew i did something wrong.

turns out when i filled my resin syringe.. i filled it with air. genius. sheer genius.
so tonight i get to redo both the trim bands and try and get all the messed decal stickyness of my marbling and try again...:(

I just did something similar. I drew up 3cc of Resin, put in in my mixing cup. Answered the phone, forgot which part I already drew up, swore it was hardener, so I added another 3cc of Resin "mixed" it, marveling at the clarity and applied. Only then did I notice that my Resin bottle contained a noticibly less amount than the hardener bottle.
