New Flippin' Rod

Here's an 8' flippin' rod I recently built. It's built on a modified blank with no fiberglass scrim, and is really light. I had a stainless butt made for a counterweight. I used burnt cork that I sealed after shaping. I also had a custom nut made for the reel seat hood. This is seriously the best flippin' rod I've ever built or tried.

Very nice job! I have a son that is a machinest, but I've never thought of having the locking nut made. Is it aluminum? The butt section looks good, too. I like the name on the butt cap. Is that a decal or did you have it engraved?

The lock-nut is aluminum. The logo on the butt is laser engraved, which actually just burns an ink into the stainless, not really engraving.
