Pouring Shakey Heads

I need some Shakey Head pouring for Dummies guidance. I got all my stuff in yesterday and tried to pour a few. One time the mold wasnt clamped down real well and the lead kinda spread out. One time the lead kinda got clogged up at the top and only made half of a ball.

I finally got a decent one but what is a good way to cut off the excess lead ontop of the shakey head ball?

Also I heard if you heat the mold it pours a little better, do i just set the mold ontop of the pot?

Any other tips would be appreciated.

Well I found out I need to buy some Gate Cutters for cutting the excess lead off the head... got everything I needed but that.

make sure you warm your mold up. that will make a big difference. Are you using a bottom pour? I know some people hold a candle up to the inside of the mold and turn it black. I personally haven't done this so I don't know if it works or not. I use a pair of needle nose pliers to pinch the excess lead off. works good. Post some pics once you got some made up.
