    cheaper rod blanks for beginners...

quick question, I have never even thought about building my own rods, but after reading a few articles and listening in on all of ya'lls posts I am seriously thinking about trying this, it looks like it would be fun. My question is this, where do ya'll get your blanks? I have found quite a few on different web sites, but the prices are not that far from a store bought once you buy all of the materials you need to build one. I know there has to be places that sell blanks at a substantial savings to builders, and since this would be my first I for sure dont want to experiment with a 150 dollar blank...All help would be appreciated, thanks in advance guys...

try mudhole tackle. they sell some fairly cheap no name blanks that are great to play with

after you get comforable with your skills try the excellent Batson line of blanks. The forecast line is 33 million modulus and an excellent bargain. Most of these blanks are in the mid $30 range

There is a place here in Houston that I buy blanks for like 10 bucks apiece. They are actually pretty good. I've made 3 worm rods and a popping rod from them. The place is called Cut Rate Fishing tackle AKA- Fishing Tackle Unlimited. I think the blanks are CalStar but not sure. Send me an email or IM if you want me to grab ya some.

go to rodbuilding.org and check out the vendors on the left side, there is one called Neal's I have purchased some rod blanks from him in the past for very little. Send him an email he probably doesnt have them listed on his website.
