    Wiggle Warts Hook Size

My dad gave me a bunch of his old wiggle warts that he bought back in the 80's and the hooks and split rings look like they have seen their better days. What size rings and treble hooks would you recommend replacing them with?

Re: Wiggle Warts Hook Size (dchance)

Depnds on the hooks. I use size 6 Owner Stinger trebles (2x ST-41s) or you can use KVD 4s. 5s might be the best if you can find the right hook. Onwer is making the ST-36 (1X) in a 5 now but I really like the build of the ST-41 better. My recommendation is to put the hooks on so that the "2 hook" side of the trebles are facing each other, not the one hook side. This limits their reach and keeps them from hooking each other as easily.

#5 is probably whats on those but their hard to find...I replaced all mine with #6 KVD's, they seem to be the best size for the Wart...IMO

    The KVD 4's work, bro.

I checked Bass Pro and Gander and neither had any treble hooks in size 5. I think I'm going to experiment with the size 4 and 6's to see what works best. Any recommendations on split ring size or even a decent pair of pliers to get these things on and off?

Put the smallest slip ring and largest front hook u can...I have a few of those too...
main thing is overlap...smaller slip rings help and picking the shortest smallest rear hook is best...most bass attack head 1st...or in this case will inhale that small of a bait...

Small split rings is good. The KVD 4 is probably all that will work in size 4. The Owner ST-41 size 6 is a great one for size 6s. You can get owner st-36s in size 5 straight from owner. Any Lucky Craft makes 5s, if you can find them online

Re: Wiggle Warts Hook Size (Puma Jim)

Thanks for all of the advice guys. I ordered both size treble hooks 4 and 6, new split rings and the Texas pliers. Hopefully, this will bring some new life into these old crankbaits!
