    Modifying Spro Jr. Frog

So I have been throwing the spo jr. frog and it works great for the first half of the cast but then it seems to fill up with water and sink about halfway through the cast.

Has anyone tried closing off the nose with silicone or have any tips/tricks?

Ive tried sealing the frogs up, but it doesnt last long since they are so smooth it tends to peal right off..I stopped using them and went with the TT mad maxx frog as they wont sink..The new bobbys perfect frog that was at ICAST has a new design that they say wont fill up with water either.

I like the TT Madd Maxx frog but wanted to try one that didnt lay flat on the water. I like the way the back of the spro sinks a bit I feel it makes it easier to walk, but of course it sinks. Maybe i will try adding some weight to the TT frog to get the back to sink a bit.

I have a ton of frogs, from Spro, Bobby's, Sumo, etc, but the one I like the most that has the best hook-up ratio and doesn't fill up with water as quite as much is the 'ol Scum frog.

Bigbasser I think you just have a bad frog if it fills up on each cast. You are correct about wanting the tail to sink a little bit. A natural frog sits in the water with his legs and body below the water and his head above like a alligator. Try another Spro. I only use spro and never have sinking problems. I welcome a little water in mine for casting distance and it helps with the tail to sit lower but if it is sinking that fast you have a bad frog not brand.

Yeah I will try another spro out as well as a few other brands, sounds like I probably just got a bad frog, good to hear. Thanks for the input guys

Must be a bad frog from Spro.

The nose of the frog is glued to the hook eyelet from the factory.

If no tears in the frog body, it should not take on that much water.

Pull back the nose of the frog back off the hook eyelet. There should be some thread wrapped on the hook eyelet. Apply some gel type super glue to those threads and push the nose back onto the eyelet.

This also has to be done after catching many fish on the Spro.
