Snelling a str8 shank hook with keeper barbs/shrink tube

Any body have any secrets for tying a snell on a BMF style hook to keep the keeper the barbs and/or shrink tube from catching the knot other than doing all your twists farther up the hook shank?

I take a pair of needle nose pliers and mash the barbs down.

I just do it further up the shank..not that big of a deal and it keeps the barbs from nicking the line..

Tie your knot first. Then put the shrink tubing on. Just do not let the knot get hot!

Or, you can make the shrink tubing shrink over the barbs and the loops will not catch as easy.
