I really dont like the trokar hooks to much for flipping wood because they seem to cut into it really well but the flipping hook works really well for the beavers, yum wooly bug, ugly otter, or any creature bait that fits that profile. If you are using them around weeds. too exspensive imo, but gamagatsu is coming out with a flipping hook pretty soon, they might already be out i dont know.

Staight shank Lazer Sharp 4/0 Mag Worm hook has been doing well for me. I had the same problem when I used EWG hooks. When I use the straight shank I put the eye of the hook inside the bait and I either just lay the point of the hook on the back of the beaver, or I barely skin hook it. My hook-up ratio has gone way up since I started using straight shank hooks on the beavs.

you can take the weight off the knot if you snell the hook. i use a uni knot to snell .quik and simple.just be sure to start from the point side first w/ line.i also use bmf strait shank hooks .you can also add the bait keeper to it and it wont slide down.

I use a straight shank hook with a hitchhiker run through the hook eye and spiraled down the shank.

Screw it on a few turns. You gotta play with how much hook you thread inside the head of the bait. If you thread too much it looks un-natural and isn't straight.

May be an impossible fix! The Beaver is my go-to bait for flipping, went thru prolly 30+ yesterday alone, but they won't last long as most all the time want to slide down after the first fish! I use a 3/0 or 4/0 Superline Gammy. After I put on a new one,it'll stay perfectly, after it catches one, wants to slide! This gets pretty expensive, but I just haven't found anything that I have as much confidence in as the Beaver,so for now, hope the price don't go up cause I'm gonna keep buying them!

Just tried the Gambler KO hooks last weekend and was very pleased. Only lost one fish in two days of flipping beavers. The shrink tubing does a great job of keeping the bait from sliding down the shank.

Will never use an EWG hook with a beaver again.

It works very well, you need to cut the tubing at an angle before you put it on. Check out youtube for some videos on how to do this.

Not a big fan of the Trokar's either, but their flipping hook holds them on great. They don't seem too complicated though, just a piece of shrink wrap at the top of the hook - in the new bassmaster magazine it shows you how to rig one up.

I bought some of the Youvella pro flips in 3/0 for the smallie beavers, I like them alot, but its a pain to tie the snell not on these because of the keeper gets in the way. Anyone have any solutions??
