wont get on plane. just bogs down

    1990 VE175SLESE on 1990 Javelin 389

boat ran well WOT before replacing these parts but still had a little trouble planing.

put on a new PP, stator, reg/rect (battery not charging and tach erratic) and plugs in may of this year. still had planing problem but ran WOT great. battery and tach ok now.

now it wont plane at all and if I luck out (with alot of front ballast), it eventually planes but only gets to about 4500 WOT.

I noticed that the timer base rotates completely to the stop (app 1") before the throttle plates even move. is this normal?

    any ideas are greatly appreciated.

    thanks

Are you sure your timer base is advancing all the way to the rubber stopper? Is your throttle opening all the way?

just rechecked and timer base is going to rubber stop and then the throttle plates start to move.

I'm thinking the throttle plates should be moving along with the timer base?

just found this in my seloc manual:

Timing is adjustable with a flywheel CD magneto system. The fuel and ignition systems MUST be carefully synchronized to achieve maximum performance from the engine. In simple terms, synchronization is timing the carburetion to the ignition. This means, as the throttle is advanced to increase engine rpm, the carburetor and ignition systems are both advanced equally and at the same rate.

thanks for your help all !!!

My bud's Ranger is doing the same thing. Mechanic thought it was the trigger, then the power pack, then the fly wheel. FIrst time it did this the power pack was bad and had a pinched wire. This time, the fly wheel has some sort of issue.

Hope that helps. NOt very technical but might lead to something.
