Deep fish- Flip Clip or Fizzing needle?

I've been catching alot of deeper fish these past two seasons and realize I need to get some sort of system to deflate the fishes swim bladder......anyone have experiences with either:

    The flip clip

    Or a fizzing needle

    Thanks

Needle, I can't see how the clips do anything to relieve the gas pressure, they just hold the fish upright. An 18 gauge needle from the vet or farm store should be about 25 cents.

Most guys around here Fizz...The clips just get them to weigh in alive, but they don't help with their long term survival..

There is a large study that is taking place on the survivablility of Fizzing...I haven't seen any results yet, but it should be interesting....

I did sort of an experiment today when i caught a smallie that needed fizzed...of course i didnt have a fizzing needle. I made a make shift " flip clip" out of a couple drop shot weights and attatched them to the smallie. After about an hour and a half in the well with the weights, i took them off and put him back in the well...I beleive it definitely helped it to gain its strength back....it looked good in the live well, so i released it back it the lake. It swam down, and never saw it surface again.

I would agree that yes the clip probably helps them get to the weigh in, but its no substitute for fizzing
