Nope not yet..I skin hook my hook right under the plastic or just leave it exposed when Im fishing open water rocks and such. Im using the Picasso shakedown and find it to be one of the best shakey heads out there as I havent lost fish on it. It keeps the worm straight and keeps the worm on the head with the Ti wire.

Use a limber rod and and don't try to cross their eyes. A bit slower upward "swing/pull" will do it. Just steady pressure through the whole deal.
Fish usually won't go NUTS with that kind of hookset on a med action rod. Very seldom do I have one come unbuttoned.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
Yea im using a 702 casting rod that has a soft tip and it helps a ton..Also using some 8-10lb floro to feel and drive the hook better.

I've had the best luck with more of a sweeping hook set than the upward set. A good quality hook in your shakey head is more important than the style hookset.
i never have had a problem and im a shaky head fanatic. I use the spot removers by buckeye and they work great. i use a rod that has a lot of sensitivity but you have to make sure the fish has it. You might be setting the hook to early. If a fish goes tap-tap DONT set the hook wait 'till it grabs it. This skill might take some time to learn but it reallt helps. Soemtimes it takes smaller fish some time to commit to it, definately in colder water.
Good Luck![]()

aikenyounggun said it, you have to let the fish take the bait. I use a medium 6'6" spinning rod, 8 to 10 lb fluorocarbon line, and Shaky HBT heads. When you set the hook don't hold back.
