    1994 150 Intruder...Rough Idle...HELP!

Hello...I have a 1994 Evinrude Intruder on a 1994 Stratos 284 and have been experiencing rough idling and a motor that often clunks out. Here is what is going on...

    1) Engine will run strong and smooth in early morning when it is cool and very little sun but as soon as the sun comes up and it gets hot the motor runs bad. I thought this was a coincidence until it happend several times and continues to happen.

    2) The fuel ball becomes flat quickly during this time period. I have replaced all the fuel lines and fuel ball several times, this has not helped at all.

    3) Recently I took the motor to a mechanic and he looked it over and could not find anything wrong with it but experienced the same problem that I have been. I was told by him that because it is carburated, I should expect this type of problem. I disagree and know there is a problem.

I would appreciate any help from anyone!

    Thanks,
    Dustin Smith

When you say the fuel bulb becomes flat, is it sucked flat or is just out of fuel?

I am not sure how I would tell the different between whether it was sucked flat or just out of fuel. Please explain how I would go about doing this and I will let you know.

If you look at the fuel bulb and it is flat, that would indicate a fuel restriction.

If its just out of fuel and you just re prime it, that would indicate the fuel pump is bad or related problems.

You wouldn,t by any chance be running premium fuel in this thing. Premium is more likely to vaporize in the fuel lines than regular and this could be causing your issues.

    I run regular only....

Is a fuel pump something that an average guy could install??
