Try pitching a SWL spinnerbait. Pitch it on top of grass,rocks,logs,stumps, and let it sink as it passes a hole. You can pitch a spinnerbait more accurately than most can cast one. Get in close and make accurate presentations. When Pitching a Spinnerbait past a piece of cover,pause for just a second. Often this erratic action triggers a strike.Sometimes a reaction strike will work better then some soft plastics. Tim Fitz

I like to do that but directly where I think the fish is positioned on the cover..This way I give him zero time to think and he/she can only react.

I did just that as winter was ending and spring was starting last February. I'd pitch it over inbetween boats and their docks bringing it just below the surface after letting it fall for a second. Caught a NICE 6lb bass on 4th cast and made my buddy jealous.

Good tip. I also throw a Chatterbait the same way around docks and boat slips. The pause action does work good. Never used singles willow leaf spinnerbaits. I use a single colorado alot. Guess I will have to give it a try in spring.
Give the chatterbait a try if you get a chance , they skip very well for blade baits also.
