wondering if silver tungsten weights are adequate or if painted weights are worth the extra money, any particular brand that shines? screw in?

penetrater weights have a unique design for punchin mats.sam aversa who fishes rodmans designed these weights for that specific purpose.personally i dont use screw in weights,i want the weight to seperate from the bait on hookset.the penetraters also are discolored, they are also hardened so the fish cant clamp down on them.

wally, im assuming your flippin mostly.i dont know what kind of knot you use but if you havent tried snelling your hook w/ a uni-knot give it a try.come in from the point side and tie a uni around the shank of the hook 5 wraps.the knot isnt only strong but it causes the point to flip up 90 deg as the fish pulls down on weight ,which in turn gives you better penetration in the top of the mouth.i feel it not only gives me better hook ups but puts the hook in the mouth that is the toughest and have fewer tear outs .

Neat little tip is to take a cream type attractant like MegaStrike or Smelly Jelly and lube the weight up. It will help it slip through the thick stuff better. I lose a lot of weights and hooks when I do this so I normally use cheapo weights.
