When do you use a hammered blade, verses a smooth finish blade?

I started using hammered blades a lot more when I started making my own spinnerbaits, not sure why I guess they just looked cooler. But I haven't noticed a difference in catch rates, so I dont really think it matters whether yer using a hammered blade or a smooth blade.

i think it would give off a bit more flash because off all the dimples on them..
