What type of line do you all use for Blade baits?(Silver Buddy type baits)

Just throwing this one out there as its getting to be that time of the year here in the Northeast where jigging a Silver Buddy off mainlake humps will really produce some nice Smallmouth and I was wondering if a straight fluorocarbon is the way to go with these baits or not??

I don't like to use flourocarbon for blades becasue it seems to sink too fast and causes the treble to get caught in the line. Best I've used is straight mono, I have not tried braid.
