I've kind of ran into sort of the same situation right now except mine has more to do with water temperatures. I like fishing spinnerbaits, and i recently starting using horny toads and tubes however it's got so warm here in florida that both those techniques have fallen off. I've even tried taking my spinnerbaits to deeper waters however most lakes i fish are only 4'-10' in depth. So from speaking with some people around the local lakes, a lot of them have recomended switching to a carolina rig, and drop shotting. I dont know what kind of fishing you usually do, but im going to start looking for deeper cuts, or subtle dropoffs and fish the carolina rig around them.

I have always spent the summer months away from shoreline, fishing deep water structure in 20-40' of water. The only times I fish shallow cover is late at night (after midnight) or early spring and late fall, and during those times, I only fish shallow cover that has deep water right beside it.
Find some river channel bends or fish the ends of points where creeks enter the main river channel. Those types of places will hold fish even when water levels drop
