    changing spark plugs?

I need to change my plugs on my '93 rude 150 intruder. Is there a process i need to do so that i dont screw up my motor? What should my gap be? do i need to clean out the spark plug holes?

I took out one of the plugs and the cap end had some black residue on it and the other end had alot of black gunk on it, i am assuming that is a sign that i need new ones?

you guys on here always have the answer!!!!!!
    Thanks for any help!

As far as I know just unhook the positive cable on your battery, then remove the spark plugs and install the new ones. Get one of those cheap 'coin' gauges and measure your previous gaps, then match the new ones.

Gap at .030 with a good gauge.

    2 more qst!

I took out one of the plugs and checked the gap, it was over .40, can the gap get bigger after use or did the previous owner had them set wrong???

when i put the plugs back in, how tight should they be?

just dont want to screw anything up!

    thanks!

    The gap grows over time.

Tighten them until the crush ring is crushed.
