E200STLESE 1990 200XP Evinrude

Number 5 cylinder had the lower 1/4, intake side, of the piston skirt broken off and chewed up. The same carb bowl was warped bad also with #62 jets. All the rings and recircs looked good. The bore was at .004 taper, a little more than spec.

The front case half for that cylinder also has a crack in the semi-circular area.

Have you seen this before, is it caused by a lean condition, and do you think the crack could be TIG welded and reliable?

I may go back with all new .030 over pistons if the crack can be fixed. I'll try to post some photos if I can.
