    Virginia Lakes Help

Heres the deal. I am heading down to the Virginia Beach area to pick up my new to me boat next weekend from Central NY. I am picking the boat up on Saturday. I was hoping to drive back 3 or 4 hours towards NY, and stop somewhere that I can fish a few hours on Sunday morning. Probably something close to 95 or 81. The only place that I saw was Lake Anna. Would love to catch a few fish but would just be nice to get out on the water with the boat. Especially since we have had hard water since December. So if you guys have any ideas that would be awesome.
    Thanks again.

If you fish Anna there are a few back roads afterward that put you on Rt 17. Its a nice route to take to get to 81 instead of going through DC. I go that way when i a head up to Sandy Creek Ny 4 times a year. Good luck with the new boat and Anna is some good fishing. There are a few guys on here that can put you on fish.

    Re: Virginia Lakes Help (tsbinc)

Thanks for the advice guys. Lake Anna seems like it might be a good option. Not too worried about getting on a lot of fish, although a few would be great. But I want to just make sure I can get out on the boat in some water and make sure everything is in good shape.

If I can get some more details that would be great. Specificallly directions and marinas that are the easiest to get too and get around.

tsbinc - How ong would you say is the trip from Anna to Syracuse? Also, how long from Virginia Beach to Anna?

    Thanks agian guys

I'd stay are as close to my dealer as possible, while I test everything on the boat. How about the Chickahomany River at the Rt. 5 bridge? This is near Williamsburg, VA where the Chick river flows into the James. Launch and go up the Chick. Test any and everything on the boat. You will only be 1 hour away from your dealer should you need something looked at.

And there are fish to catch.

Anna to The Beach is about 3 hours or so. You can make syracuse from anna in about 8 or less. I would say 8 towing. Its not bad road from anna up to 81. It sure beats sitting in traffic in DC with your new rig.

I'd definitely hit Anna then take 64 to 81 north. The extra miles are well worth missing DC.

    Re: Virginia Lakes Help (dreaminbig)

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I really think that Anna is the best bet. Alright well, specific launch details would be awesome. Any type of directions from the beach to Anna and getting from Anna to 81 would help.

Also, is it safe to sleep in the truck near or at the launch? Is there a town nearby that might have a walmart or someplace that I can pick up a 1 day license or something.

Sorry for all of the questions, just want to get everything in order before I head out.

The seller is an individual, and I am already getting the rig at an unbelievable price so I don't want to ask for anything more from him. I am confident after talking to his dealer where he has his work done.

    Thanks agian guys.
