    Lake Anna info please

Im goin to Lake Anna for 4 days in the middle of April and have never been there before. I am stayin at the state park. I have looked on the map and I know where the park is located on the map but I dont understand the whole "hot side / cold side" thing. A fellow BBCer told me the hot side is private and the cold side is public, but when I'm lookin at the map where is hotside and where is cold side. Is there something that devides the two? Any help with understanding the Lake Anna lingo would be great. Also I have heard Anna is shallow, is it safe running around near the park?

The "hot" side is divided from the cold side by means of 3 dikes. There is no access from one to the other. If you leave the State Park by water and go left , you'll be heading "downlake" which is where the dam, and the 3 dikes are.(very clear water) State park is located at what us locals call the "Spilts". Its where the North Anna and Pamunkey River meet at. By turning right to go up in either river arm is called "Uplake" There is some shallow flats/humps but for the most part they are all mark with buoys. Just keep an eye on your electonics and you'll be fine. Good luck to ya

Lake Anna is by no means too shallow to run, and there are very few obsacles to wory about.

Because it is owned by the power company, it is kept cleaned up.

As long as you are a hundred feet..or so..off the shoreline, you can just about run the entire lake wide open.

A topo map will clearly show the flats and humps to stay away from.

April should be a good month to be on the cold side.

There is a on the water hotel at High Point Marina.

    http://www.highpointmarina.com/

    It's on rt 208.
    Info is on their website.

Lake Anna lodge is also on Rt 208 and is directly across from Sturgeon Creek Marina

    Anna Point Marina

and Sturguen Creek marina are also easy access to cold side

The State park is a nice camping park, but is far from the water front.
There are a couple of cablins near the water, with their own docks, but they are a good ways from the boat ramp. You need to have 2 people to make it work at the park

High Point is not cheap, I was quoted $109 per night for April.
