I cut my hand on fishin line while fishing the Potomac two weekends ago. Nothing big just a tiny little cut in the bend of my knuckle on my right index finger. Did it while breaking line off a snag. Cleaned it with hand sanitizer and went back to fishing. Last Friday noticed it was not looking right. Area around the cut started to turn white and was getting painful. Went to the doc, and he said looked like it was just inflamed and not infected but gave me an anti-biotic script to be safe. Well Friday was busy and since doc thought was not infected did not rush to get prescription filled. Saturday had a t and was tired so again did not get to the pharmacy. Woke up Sunday morning and the white area had at least tripled in size and now also had some purple/blue, and yellow too it. Pain was real bad in the entire finger too, and I mean real bad. Definitely was infected and getting worse so finally went and got the anti-biotic filled. Took first dose Sunday night and now after a couple of days and pills it is starting to finally look better. Still sore but alot better.

Anyway it was such a little cut but I guess with how hot has been and how warm all the area waters are bacteria levels must be super high. If you do get any cut, no matter how small, when you are out on the water be sure to thoroughly clean it and bandage it to keep anymore water from getting in. Just wanted to let you all know so you don't have to get a nasty infected finger like I did.
