1988 Evinrude XP150

hello I am new to forum and new to my bass boat. I have a 1990 champion 201SV with Evinrude XP150. Recently had a rash of symptoms with my Evinrude. It starts and idles fine..gets on plane and runs for about 1/2 to 3/4mi and then dies out. I can restart, idle and move forward slowly but refuses to get on plane again feels like it is starving for fuel. Then very randomly it allows me to get on plane again for about 1/2 mile then symptoms start again. Also at same time my Tach died and my cranking batter has been requiring a charge. Is this a rectifier problem, a stator problem...or something completely different? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Close enough, with that model number you have a 1985 model engine.

The battery may be the issue with the recharge but you can check it with a volt meter, connect the volt meter to the battery at idle and post the reading.

The other issue could be recirc valves, sync and link, cylinder head temps.

sorry boat is up in Newhampshire so I had to call to get the correct #
