    Sons report from Haiti

He left last week for another 7 month deployment to the Gulf, got diverted to Haiti a day or so out. He said yesterday that the situation down there is like nothing he could have ever comprehended. He said they work 20 hours a day, non stop, and at the end of the day they can't see any progress. The number of injured and dead is just so overwhelming that no matter what they do it doesn't seem to be helping. He said the bodies are stacked everywhere.

I know that the earthquake and what it did is devistating to the Haitians, they had absolutely nothing to start with, and they need lots of prayers. But when you're saying your prayers, please say some for all the young soldiers, sailors, and airmen that are over there trying to help as many people as they can. What they're having to see is gonna leave a mark that's never gonna go away.

I was standing in line getting some fast food, and the people were really slow. The guy behind me was goin nuts, complaining very aggrevated, he taps me on the shoulder "man can you believe this sh@@#t, I said yea there a little slow, but after seeing the people in Haiti and what they're going through I think I can wait a few minutes for a meal. He got real quiet after that.

Always be thankful for what you have, big or small. It can all go away in a second.

    IBKBASSIS is right on!
I just hope after this initial round of aid, the focus turns to helping them learn to fish, (help themselves) and not focusing on giving them another fish dinner. Aid to poor countries is a joke for the most part, most often only aids them in needing and depending on more aid. Homeless sitting around while others are wating on them hand and foot....that is not true help or compassion. I admit this is totally different at this point with the earth quake,...they need our help. But long term, as it is in many places, what we consider as AID and help has got to change or come to an end. Google Paul Shirley, the most un PC guy in America right now!
