    smith mountain in january

    thinking of doing a tourney there this weekend. anybody ever fish it in january? any ideas on where to look? ive only fished the lake twice. some friends went down last weekend and one of them had 5 weighing 19 pounds

    that's good considering the water temp had to be mid 30's

    Until this past weekend and leading up to today, it was cold enough for long enough that there is a lot of ice on the lake.

    If SML looks anything like Claytor Lake, the rise in water level floated a bunch of the snowfall and formed, quite literally, mini icebergs. And it picked up a bunch of trash. Even some pontoon boats and floating ramps got taken away.
