no no don't eat it you must give it to me instead![]()
it is better to give![]()
i will get them pink crocks from daryl and trade you![]()
No need to soak it. If the cuts are still in large chunks, you may want to cut them into smaller meal sizes and wrap/freeze. If the deer was dressed quickly and properly, processed without hanging, and cut/wrapped it should be good to go. I have yet to harvest a "gamey" tasting deer when properly and quickly processed.
Good Luck, let me know if you need some recipes

There is one in front of my house, if anybody wants it. Someone hit Sunday night.
You better hurry if you want it, my dogs have been chowing down on it. I won't have to buy no dog food this week.![]()
Call me..I got the info and some stuff for you to try with it..Soaking is optional, seems like the older folks like to soak. especially grandma's![]()
Now that I think about it, a lot of people hunt deer with dogs on your side of the state. You might want to ask your client if that deer was taken after being run. Maybe the whole soaking thing is to reduce the gaminess that comes from that hunting method and lactic acid buildup.

I soak all of mine in milk. Don't know why....my Dad did it, Grandpaw did it...I never asked why. Somebody told me once it pulls out allot of the blood and the game taste.
Salt and water and soak it for 24 hours. Then cut it up, find a good crock pot receipe and let it cook for a long time. I have a good bbq one for a crock pot that takes 8 hours to cook.

I do the same for the same reasons but it seems to work. I use apple cider vinegar and salt in water overnight. It will pull the blood out.
If you don't like the vinegar and salt, chunk it up and put it in crushed ice overnight will do the almost the same thing.
