info on potomac near leesylvania park

we have a club tourney launching from leesylvania state park in sept and i have never laid eyes on the river. just doing some homework and was wondering about places to start near here and how the river is here as far as clarity, and obstacles

Not many obastacle on the main river in this section, but the creeks can be difficult until you learn your way around. A GPS with a good map chip is a big help. Water clarity depends on the amount of rain, wind and tide, but the water is generally clear around most grass beds unless the rain has been heavy.

You can fish just about anywhere as long as it's in the grass that time of year. I would be more than happy to show you around the river if need be, or key you into some patterns. Can't go wrong with heading across river to Mattawoman, heading south to Brent's Marsh or Aquia, or going north to mouth of Pomonky Creek. Keep us posted on when you plan to fish it. If worse comes to worse you can always catch the retreads off the rock jetties at leesylvania.

My favorite body of water within the state by far.I would advise going with someone to prefish a day a week or 2 before your tournament. Someone can show you many areas within several miles that can be good.
