The background........I'm working to find the model and serial numbers on the motor (any help in where they're located would be appreciated).
1990 Bass Tracker Pro 17 aluminum boat with 1990 Evinrude 60 HP. Bought the boat from a friend, gutted it and put in new plywood, carpet and seats.
Boat sat for two years....new water pump and impeller three years ago and disconnected the VRO oil injection (mixing gas and oil at 32:1.....Does that sound right or too much oil?). Put new spark plugs in it when I restored it last month. Last trip, launched boat and ran at full throttle approx 3 minutes before it started "cutting out", similar to a bad plug or wire. At about 30% throttle, everything smooths out and motor runs fine. Checked the water flow from the impeller and the temp (by touch) and all looked normal. Tied up and fished for a while, then went full throttle again and same thing happened after about three minutes.
1. Is there a thermostat on this motor that could be bad or sticking?
2. Is this an indication of the water pump/impeller needing to be changed?
Any and all help is appreciated!!!!!
