Guys/Gals, who IM'd me about getting some help on Lake Anna, thank you. I made it up to Lake Anna this past weekend to take my dad fishing on his home lake. He doesn't get out much due to his health and has not fished in years.
My goal was to put him on fish, and man did we find them thanks to the help I got from so many people on Bass Boat Central and also on the Bass Fishing Home Page.
My dad and I fished hard for 2 days straight and boated fish on all kinds of baits. Most in the 1-3lb range with one citation sized fish coming for my dad which also happened the be the biggest bass he's ever caught.
He got her to the boat, I netted her and we just looked at each other in amazement, I almost broke down I was so happy for him that I thought I was going to bust. A 22" 7.5lb LM on 8lb co poly line and a spinning rod cause he can't use a bait caster any more with his health and now arthritis.
What a fight, the fish jumped and ran and the drag worked and I coached him on getting her close to us, she tried to wrap him on the motor but we got her off with constant pressure (but not too much) and I slid the net under her and it was picture time!
Might not sound like a big deal to some folks but when you take the guy fishing who showed you how to do it and are now showing him things he's never imagined possible with the sport and the equipment as well as knowing very clearly that your days with your dad are numbered and you bust your azz to make that trip a success by any means necessary on water that you don't know that well, all I can say is that when it comes together better than you could have ever hoped it makes you feel pretty darn good and I ain't sad to say, I feel really thankful that the trip was able to be put together and that we were blessed with great fishing and what is now the memory of a lifetime and a photo to back it up.
Here's pops with that big girl. We relased her shortly after the pics were taken off his boat dock so somebody else might have that same lasting memory burned in to their mind for the rest of their days with thier long time fishing buddy.
