Look under the bottom carbs, pretty much center, loosen up the 3/8ths headed bolt,take it out and slide the side over to release the pin. BTW, taking the R pin out of the shift shaft on the left side facing the carbs will help...

Stand on the right side of the motor, find the shift cable, the linkage that runs towards the center of the motor under the carbs has a clip pushed through a hole in the link close to the cable, remove the clip and push the linkage towards the other side of the motor, this will let the shift rod loose and the gear case will come off.
