    lost my 200 Johnson

Got a 2000 J200PLSS with a little work from Monty's Racing, and think I lost a cylinder or more the other day. Have been having problems with it lately, not running hard like it should, and have went through the normal routine stuff, plugs, lower oil, etc.. None of it worked. Was coming off pad the other day and heard a pinging sound, then it sounded like something blew out and it started knocking. Shut it off and haven't run it since. Talked to a mechanic that said I don't want to do any of the work myself because of the flywheel being under so much tension I could easily kill myself without the proper tools. Kind of scary thinking about that. Does this sound like my problem, and if so, how much am I looking at? I'm assuming this would not be something I could get covered by insurance? Thanks in advance for any answers

You can rent a harmonic balancer puller and pull the flywheel yourself and unless you have your face on the flywheel when it pops free I dont think you will be hurt.

Price depends on how bad it is, hole in the block, expensive, one piston damaged 3000-4000 bucks.

You sure need air and it won't blow your face off too bad. That's one reason we don't do mods here. .

honest truth is I didn't know it was modified until after I bought it, or I wouldn't have bought it. Had dreams of getting into the Strens and moving up, but only stock engines are allowed. Wouldn't have bought it if I would've known that. Probably why he didn't tell me until after. That's okay, it's done what I needed so far, and runs like a beast when it's going. Was thinking of just buying a stock 200 powerhead for it and having it installed. That would solve the blown cylinder problem and the stock engine problem, but for the cost, I would rather buy a whole new engine and get everything new. Thoughts?

. But If Monty did it...it should be right at least for 100 hours.
