    Anybody use Everstart AGM battery?

    Hey guys,

just replaced my 3 trolling motor batteries and realized my current X2 Power Dual purpose AGM cranking battery needs to be replaced.
Trying not to spend $500 if possible.
I found this AGM battery in Walmart and wondering if any of you run it and can let me know what you think or have any other suggestions.

Running in a Ranger Z520 with Dual Pro PS4 charger with two 12” Garmins and one 10” Garmin, Livescope and a Ultrex TM.

I had a group 24 Everstart AGM that I ran for about 7-8 years, and I probably could have gotten 1 more year if the boat shop that I previously used didn’t leave the main power on while in storage waiting on me to pick it up. Eventually, I was going to have upgrade to a group 31 AGM because I started upgrading fishfinders and added Livescope.

I honestly know nothing about batteries and noticed the one you posted has 65 mins more reserve time.

I go fishing typically for about 5-7 hours with about 30-45 mins run time and the rest trolling with the Garmins on. So the longer the reserve time the better for my set up I’m assuming?

Got it. The more I research and think of it, I’m going to need to spend around $400+ to make sure I get the most reliable agm for my use.

I got a 12” Garmin at the console running, a 12” Garmin at the bow with livescope on it and a 10” Garmin at the bow as well.
The Ultrex typically on anchor mode most of the time and live wells running all together.
I don’t know if the Everstart AGM will cut it.

That 31 AGM that you have linked at Walmart is a rebadged Clarios/Interstate battery. It has a very poor reputation here on BBC. I would stay away from it. For your setup you will need a higher end AGM with a good RC, like you had. Another X2/Northstar like you had, or Odyssey. Then you are getting close to lithium territory as far as pricing.

If you need that much runtime, you are running into the territory of splitting your electronics to Lithium and leaving the rest of the boat on an AGM.

Yup, I agree. I’m probably going to go with the exact X2 I originally had that lasted 7 years and the few years I’ve had the boat, never had an issue cranking up the engine after long days.

Ok, I like the sound of that.

Here is the comparison between the two and only things the X2 has better is the cold cranking amps, (I don’t fish in extreme conditions, only April to October in Michigan) and the 4 year warranty.

Hows the longevity on the VMAX?
The X2 I’m replacing is 7 years old.

Other than the 800 CCA and 1000 MCA, does it say expected life span of 10-12 years?
    Wow! How accurate is that?

I know some walleye guides that still use the same battery and on the 9th year.... I replaced my X2, and see that it holds higher voltage than the X2 ever did.

I'm not affiliated just so you know....

That's the first I have seen that but it is just a clone of the Duralast/Diehard AGM batteries which work great. I would use it.
