    J150GLEDB
    G 04141990

After I got the shift rod attached,I now have the reverse cranking while in gear,
Which way do I turn the shift rod to allow it the sync In reverse?

    Thank you.

The curve is typical facing forward.
your terms of cranking in reverse and sync in reverse are unusual. Please offer a little more clarity to what you mean.
Is the gear case not in neutral when trying to start the engine?
what was the work being performed that caused the questions?

Neutral is fine, foward is fine. Put it in reverse and it chunks but prop turns. I am pretty sure I may have moved the gear rod a twist ir two re installing the gear case. Probably not more than 2. If the reverse is barely engaging, I think I just need to twist it once or twice. I can do that without taking the case off. I think its counter clockwise, from what I read.

“One or two turns” on the shift rod is a lot. Are you making these checks with the shift cable disconnected?
Yes the shift rod needs to be adjusted.
remember you still need to make adjustments to the shift cable trunnion.

Only takes a few mins to drop and adjust properly 21 1/4" in neutral to the center of the shift rod eye.

I got it it was one turn off, I must have turned it while monkeying with lining it up to the hole. As suggested having the pan off would have solved this issue.

    Thank you for the guidance.
