    Hughsnet

Does anyone here have Hughsnet internet? I’m looking to switch away from Spectrum. I know years ago there were a lot of complaints. Just wondering if it’s any better now?

My parents ditched hughesnet as soon as they could it was so bad.

they have a local co-op provider now for satellite internet and they are happy.

I know a few people that use starlink and are very happy with it. Its pricey, but spectrum hasn't gotten pricey enough or bad enough for us to go that way.

I hear you on spectrum, as they are the only provider in my area unfortunately.

For me the cheapest plan was $55 year one and $80 year 2+. With a typical speed of 50 MBS and 650 MS latency and only a 100GB of priority. I would come up with the 40 more bucks a month for Starlink.

Disclaimer: I use Starlink and it is fast, reliable and has pretty much worked perfect 99.99% of the time, its expensive ($120 a month).

Last month, our daughter called and complained about the cost of Spectrum internet and said that she was going to buy Starlink. They cut her a deal of $50 a month for a year to stay. So, the next week we called and did the same thing. With the plan that we have, they couldn't give us the $50 price, but gave it to us for $60 for a year. Our previous bills had been nearly $90 a month.

Looks like Spectrum is the new Sirius XM radio. Call and complain loud enough and they'll cut the price to keep you as a customer.

Hughesnet was horrible for us for 2 years. Starlink now, only about 30 dollars more and works 98+% of the time and fast.

Go with Starlink and dont look back! Easy to install and setup yourself and service is great. we live in an area where cell service sucks and there is no internet landline serviced so satellite internet is our only option and Starlink is awesome.

If you have Spectrum now, you'll hate Hughsnet. I hated Hughsnet when it was my only option.

Best thing we ever did. Works awesome and a breeze to Install. Game changer for us out here in the country. Little pricey only downside.

I have Starlink at another house, and it is faster than my fiber based link.

We have Starlink at our cabin on Georgian Bay and it's as fast as our Spectrum internet at home.

Starlink is a little pricey but if it’s the only option and a little bit more than Hughesnet it’s a no brainer. Just don’t install the satellite to close to a dish or direct tv satellite or it will make your TV service have intermittent interference.
