Oil filter help for a 225 Pro XS 4 stroke...

    Serial number: 2B598244

    2018 225hp Pro XS

Doing my first oil change on my own today and want to confirm the oil filter number because one that's currently on it seems taller than the one I have...

    I have the Quicksilver 35-8MO176312

    Is this the correct one?

Haven't drained it yet, so I'm not in dire straits...lol...but hoping to knock this out today.

The Mercury Marine parts catalog for your specific motor shows Mercury Marine part number 8M0123025 and Quicksilver part number 8M0176312.

where did you get the filter? lots of counterfeit parts on ebay and amazon in filters and plugs. also merc might have 2 or more companies making filter which might make for variances also

Thanks guys! I looked it up but was suspicious as it’s shorter than the one on it.

Got it from a marina but didn’t have my serial number handy and the guy didn’t instill confidence…lol!

Looks like I got the right one.

Put your serial number, or a picture on your phone so you'll always have it. THAT is the proper identifier to locate (or learn) anything about your engine.

Both of the provided part numbers are identical filters: Just different labeling and paint color.
