BCB aluminum trailer four year review

The recent BCB trailer thread was very informative. Glad that the overall response was very positive on their steel trailer builds. They build a very high quality steel trailer along with the optional aluminum trailer. Other boat brands miss the mark on trailer quality. The aluminum option is a different animal compared to the steel trailer. They both are precisely built per hull type with similar characteristics. The aluminum trailer is a hybrid build between BCB and EZ Loader. EZ Loader is right next to the BCB factory making the manufacturing process very convenient. Mine is a 2021 with a Caracal sitting on the platform. To date 20k on the trailer still with the original 18” tires and has never left me on the roadside. After the two year warranty period I did a few trailer upgrades. This was strictly a personal decision to do this based on the water I fish. This post is in no way a criticism of the original trailer build from BCB.
    2021 trailer

F-2 with modified plates and tie down

Side rail is a beefy I-tube with square tube cross members

Bunk supports welded with a back up stiffer

Structural aluminum welds and design holding with 20k to date.

    Fender under structure very beefy

Trailer specs well above the 4200 lb weight of the combined trailer/boat

Other trailer mods solid aluminum license plate mounting plate

Foam stop helps with bow support

Foam guard on cross member insurance for hull plenty of clearance stock

Overall this is a high quality trailer and is a great option for a potential BCB purchase. The upgrade cost is a consideration but it’s not outrageous. I have kept up with the maintenance and had a few repairs which is expected. The roads are terrible everywhere in the country so trailer quality is very important. Three thousand miles this year and 0 issues and it trailers perfectly. Very happy my Caracal is on top of this trailer!

Yes. They are the same Dexter torsion axles that are on the steel trailers.

Great looking trailer. Neat mod you did there for the Fulton 2 speed and the trick steps. Looks great.

I added the boat latch from Boat2Trailer and really like the convenience, especially when fishing alone - https://www.boat2trailerhookup.com or https://www.boat2trailerhookup.com/b...ic-boat-latch/

The aluminum trailer looks awesome! It is a great option for those in tidal areas.

Aluminum has its own set of issues. I guess it depends on how long you plan on keeping your boat. Most steel trailers used in fresh water will last 10 years+ especially if they’re stored inside. My last trailer started to rust prematurely because I used boatsauce on my boat after use to remove water spots. It’s acid based and corrosive.

That’s another reason I chose the aluminum trailer midwest road salt treatments. My Ranger road armor trailer started failing on year ten. Water intrusion under the armor started corrosion and was a real pain to repair.

I have weighed the option. If and when I do purchase another BCB boat. I really like the upgrades. My P2 is a great boat although if I purchase another it will most likely be an premium line up
